Bondo Technical Training Institute is situated within Bondo Township about 5 km along Bondo Misori road. Strategically placed within the Western region of Nyanza, and fast emerging as a region for development, Bondo has already emerged as an academic county with an established University and other tertiary institutions.
Bondo Technical Training Institution was construct with funds from the Government of Kenya (GOK). During the initial stages of its construction, it was mentored by Siaya Institute of Technology. The Board of Siaya Institute of Technology partially handed over the management of institution to the Principal on 19/3/2015. The institution is managed by the Board of Governors who held their inaugural meeting on 3rd July 2015.
Bondo Technical Training Institute opened its doors for the first bunch of 56 students in May 2015. The number is set to rise three fold with the acquisition of state of the art equipment that have been installed in the workshops and laboratories. There are currently four departments in the institution; Building and Civil Engineering, Electrical, ICT and Business Departments. The institute offers both part-time and full time programmes. Plans are underway to adopt virtual learning. The part-time programmes are conducted between 4 – 7pm from Monday to Friday and 8am – 5pm on Saturday and Sundays while the full time programmes run from 8am – 6pm from Monday through to Friday. The programmes are provided for the following levels, Artisan, Craft and Diploma. The examining bodies are KNEC, KASNEB, City and Guilds, ABE among others.
The Bondo Technical Training Institute’s Board of Governors was formally established in accordance to the TVET legal order 2013. It is one of the 56Technical Training Institutes in the Republic of Kenya.
The Technical Training Institute is registered under the Education Act Cap 211 Section 15(2) Registration Certificate number TVETA/PUBLIC/RC/0007/2014.
